Facing an unplanned pregnancy
The female phase of sexual maturity (when a woman is physically capable of becoming pregnant) lasts about 35 years, and an unwanted pregnancy can happen to women at any point during this phase. The emotional response to the pregnancy does depend to a significant extent on whether or not the expected child was planned - it is common to feel a range of unpleasant emotions when facing an unplanned pregnancy. Take some time to adjust to the idea of being pregnant, and to think through all your options. As well as a partner, family, and friends, there are a number of trained professionals at hand to give non-judgmental, non-directive advice. Whatever advice is given, the final decision as to whether or not to continue with the pregnancy can only be made by the woman herself.
